Lucy: Hi there, i love making cupcakes but they often have a cone like shape. They don't tend to look very nice, how can i stop this?
My answer: Hi Lucy, this is a problem many people have and theres a very simple answer- over filling the cases!
When you are putting the batter into the cases, make sure you only fill the cases to about 2 thirds of the way up at the most.
I hope this helps Lucy- happy baking! x
Jan: Hi, I've recently started making cup cakes and really enjoy the process from start to finish. Most recipes have worked out great apart from a red velvet one i used, it was the Hummingbird recipe, I followed it to the letter but the cakes came out of the oven like rubber, I had no option but to bin the lot. What did i do wrong?
My answer: Hi, Red velvet cupcakes are quite tricky and often come out wrong, try not to add to much liquid to the uncooked mixture as it will therefore be very runny and when cooked could have a rubbery or uncooked texture.
Next time you make them, add less liquid, hope this helps.
